After completing a commercial banking apprenticeship, Urs Arbter earned his licentiate in business administration from the University of St. Gallen and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program. After several years with a major Swiss bank, Urs Arbter joined the insurance industry in 1998: After initial years at today's Allianz Suisse (1998-2004), he was a member of the Swiss Life Executive Board (2004-2010) and a member of the Helsana Executive Board (2010-2015). After a good two years as a partner of strategy consultant Roland Berger, Urs Arbter moved to the Swiss Insurance Association (SIA) as Head of Insurance Policy and Regulation and Deputy Director. Urs Arbter has been Director of the SIA since January 1, 2022. In addition to his native German, Urs Arbter speaks English, French and Italian. He is married and the father of two adult children.
